“Swim with the Stars” Adds Extra Excitement to 2026 Evesham First Schools Swimming Gala

The 2026 First Schools Swimming Gala was a vibrant celebration of school sport, welcoming more than 320 children from 17 local schools for two energetic and inspiring days in the pool.

One of the highlights this year was the introduction of “Swim with the Stars” — a fun new feature inspired by Adam Peaty’s popular “Sprint with the Stars” events. The fastest swimmers on the day were invited to race against Jasper and Karina, Evesham Swimming Club members and previous First Schools Gala record holders. The swimmers were given a head start in a race against Jasper or Karina to see who would make the finish line first. The races created a memorable experience for swimmers and plenty of excitement for spectators around the pool.

Congratulations to all swimmers who took part, and special recognition to this year’s division winners:

• Division 1: Bengeworth CE Academy

• Division 2: Sedgeberrow CE First School

• Division 3: Offenham CE First School

• Division 4: Cropthorne with Charlton CE First School

  
  

Across all four divisions, swimmers demonstrated fantastic determination, confidence, and sportsmanship, making the gala a true celebration of teamwork and achievement. A huge thank you goes to the schools, volunteers, officials, and supporters whose dedication helped make the event such a success.

Feedback from schools highlighted the positive impact of the gala, with one teacher commenting:

“We really enjoyed it. We had a few reluctant swimmers beforehand; however, after the Gala morning, they are enthusiastic and can’t wait for next year, especially the child who swam with the ‘star’. We all had a great time. Thank you!”

Evesham Swimming Club is proud to support school swimming and inspire young people to enjoy being active in the water. The club is already looking forward to welcoming everyone back next year for another fantastic event.
