Welcome to Evesham Swimming Club!
Evesham Swimming Club was formed in 1911 and today, continues to go from strength to strength. Swimmers were originally coached in the River Avon and at the outdoor pool beside the river before moving to the Davies Road Pool. Swimmers now train and compete at our 25m pool in the centre of Evesham at Evesham Leisure Centre.
ESC is an inclusive club, having swimmers that wish to compete at club events only through to County, Regional and swimmers with National aspirations. The aim is to support all swimmers through their own personal development and inspire them to achieve their personal goals to the best of their ability. By providing opportunities to challenge each individual we can develop resilience and long life skills for our athletes.

In January 2020 we were accepted to become a Start Para-Swimming Centre for Worcestershire and can now recruit swimmers and arrange assessments for swimmers with a recognised disability. We hold close links with Evesham Leisure Centre’s Learn-to-Swim programme and are supported by Swim England in the provision we provide. We are a Swim Mark approved club. This recognises high standards of governance, sustainability and effectiveness.
All swimmers in the club are eligible to be selected to represent the club at friendly internal galas and club championship events. The club also competes in the SwimGainz Junior Development League, Nuneaton League and Arena League competitions. Open Meets throughout the year are open to all club swimmers who are registered as competitive swimmers. This provides great opportunities to improve personal times and strive for attaining County and Regional Qualifying Times.
The club is run by a committee of volunteers with a highly qualified coaching team led by Head Coach, Graham Begley. As a club we take training of our coaches seriously and every year we invest in their development.
Swimmers range from 6 to 65+ years old. There are six squad groups (Academy, Juniors, Development, Performance, Swim Fit and Masters). Since Covid-19 the club squads have been broken down into numbered groups that cover each squad so all swimmers are swimming at the correct level for their age and ability.
Over the years we have helped many swimmers hone their skills and we are proud to have honorary members – Roland Lee (1984 Los Angeles, 1988 Seoul and 1992 Barcelona), Joanne Deakins (1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta), Cameron Brodie (Commonwealth Games 2010), Chloe Golding (Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games) and Harry Ackland (World School Games & Triple British Champion).
In 2021 the club developed a Water Polo section that is flexible for all Swim England Members to join in the fun. In 2021 we competed in our first Water Polo festival at KES in Birmingham. This discipline now train every week. We look forward to more opportunities moving forward.
